Located in the scenic highlands of West Java, Bogor, Indonesia, is a vibrant destination known for its natural beauty, rich culture, and serene atmosphere, offering a peaceful escape from the bustle of nearby Jakarta.
Viristar held a Wilderness First Aid course November 15-17 2024, in Bogor as part of its continued efforts to advance risk management practices and safety standards in outdoor and wilderness settings worldwide.

With experience teaching remote medicine courses across four continents, Viristar recognizes Indonesia as an ideal location for wilderness rescue and emergency medicine training. The country’s diverse landscapes and unique challenges provide an excellent environment for hands-on learning opportunities.
We were fortunate to partner with Jelajah Outdoor, an outdoor adventure provider based in Bogor. Jelajah Outdoor is committed to promoting effective risk management practices within its youth-focused and corporate programs, emphasizing safety in all outdoor activities.

A total of seventeen participants from various backgrounds, including facilitators, educators, logistical support, and outdoor activists, participated in this three-day training. Beh Miinhan, a Singapore-based Viristar’s instructor, led the course.
The training covered essential topics such as patient assessment, Basic Life Support, injury management, extrication and evacuation techniques, and environmental emergencies. Participants engaged in both classroom learning and patient assessment drills, reflecting Viristar’s commitment to interactive and practical training methods. The course curriculum is from Wilderness Medical Associates, of which Viristar is a licensed training company.

Sandi Taruni, CEO of Jelajah Outdoor, highlighted the importance of the course for improving safety competency among professionals and outdoor enthusiasts. “We want to ensure that professionals in the adventure industry have globally recognized skills,” said Sandi.
